After taking a brief hiatus for the summer months, the San Bernardino Symphony will return this fall for its 2013-14 season! This is the eighty-fifth season that the San Bernardino Symphony has been delighting our community.
The San Bernardino Symphony offers a number of exciting concerts this year, and we encourage you to attend with your friends and family. The concert schedule for the 2013-14 season is as follows:
Concert 1: Beyond Gravity
Saturday, September 28
This concert will feature The Planets by Gustav Holst, Star Wars Selections by John Williams, and E.T. Adventures on Earth by John Williams.
Concert 2: Bold Voyage
Saturday, November 9
Called a “sweeping musical essay” by the Symphony, this concert will surely delight. The concert will present Symphony No. 5 by Jean Sibelius and Cello Concerto by Antonín Dvorák.
Concert 3: Peter and the Wolf
Sunday, January 26
Based on the popular children’s tale Peter and the Wolf, this concert will serve as a night of nostalgia. The concert will include a reading of Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Judith Valles, and performances of Sinfonia India, Billy the Kid, and Fire Dance.
Concert 4: SAX & Strings
Saturday, March 1
What would the orchestra be if not for the strings section? This concert celebrates the “heart and soul of the orchestra” with performances of Adagio for Strings, Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, and Concerto for Saxophone.
Concert 5: Master Works
Saturday, May 3
Don’t miss the last concert of the season! The season’s finale will feature the masterpieces Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky and Piano Concerto No. 3 by Rachmaninoff.
Each of the concerts above will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the California Theatre of the Performing Arts. To find more information or purchase tickets, visit the San Bernardino Symphony website.
