The Resplandor de Mexico Folklorico Dance Company is performing at the Riverside Festival of Lights Entertainment Stage on December 1, 2013. This one-night-only performance will feature a memorable night of old-world dances. Audience members throughout Riverside will enjoy this Hispanic-influenced tradition. The troupe is directed by Markie Mancha.
“Resplandor de Mexico” means “Brilliance of Mexico.” “Folklorico” (translating to “folkloric” in English) is a Latin American folk dance style that combines ballet techniques with traditional dance styles. Each Mexican state has a distinct style of Folklorico style dancing. This particular troupe has chosen to incorporate the dancing style of the country, rather than highlighting a distinction between northern and southern states. Dancers, including members of the Resplandor de Mexico Folklorico Dance Company, wear traditional, colorful, Spanish-influenced dance costumes.
The Festival of Lights Entertainment Stage is located in Riverside on Main Street between University and Mission Inn Avenues. The stage is adjacent to the Festival of Lights Ice Skating Ring. The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. and lasts for approximately one hour.
