It’s all too common today to have absolutely no clue who your next door neighbors are – let alone the individuals in your community. However, having a sense of community is important. Among other benefits, it helps you feel connected to the area you live in and can provide a sense of security. The city of Riverside’s annual Backyard Bash aims at creating those community bonds.
This yearly event, the Backyard Bash, is organized by seven non-profits in Riverside:
- US Vets
- The Pink Ribbon Place
- Community Connect
- Blindness Services Support Inc.
- LSS Community Care Centers
- Family Services Association
- Music Changing Lives
The 2013 Backyard Bash will have the theme of “Food Fights.” The event will have a “best of” food tasting competition featuring local Riverside restaurants. This is your opportunity to see what cuisine Riverside has to offer. In addition, there will be live entertainment, marshmallow dodgeball, cake walks, games, and raffles that will support local nonprofits. This year’s musical performer will be the wonderful Factory Tuned Band.
The Backyard Bash will be held on June 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fairmount Park. Fairmount Park is located at 2601 Fairmount Blvd, Riverside, CA.
Tickets can be purchased at any of the seven non-profit organizations mentioned above. Prices vary based on the games, events, and raffles you would like to participate in. However, there is a $10 charge for entry to the tasting (this includes 3 tastes).
